Love Avocado? Here Are 5 Unusual But Tasty Ways To Eat More Avo

The old Avocado is a staple ingredient in most homes, loved by everyone in the family. I don’t know too many people who can sit there and tell me they don’t enjoy eating avocado..but here’s the thing, I personally can not stand the taste! I KNOW RIGHT.. WHAT THE! Because of its highly nutritious make up, high in monounsaturated fats, and Vitamins E, A and C, I tried to find unorthodox ways to eat avocado besides the infamous guacamole, so I could still consume all the goodness within the magic fatty fruit. I know people who DREAM about avocados and would never dare to hinder the flavour but these recipes can be used by everyone to enhance any diet. People are often scared of naturally fatty foods becuase they think the fat naturally obtained from these foods like the avocado will make you fat..this is far from true. Go back 20 to 30 years ago this was the idea, to help loose weight cut out all your fat but current research has proved we need good fats like your mono and polyunsaturated fats for energy production and to make hormones within our bodies, just to name a few.

Avocado can be used to make the ultimate creamy dressing. Adding avo gives the dressing a thick creamy mayonnaise like texture that goes great with any salad. This easy peasy recipe takes two seconds to whip up in a processor.

Place 1 avocado, the juice of 1/2 lemon, 1/2 a teaspoon of vinegar ( Apple cider vinegar or balsamic works a treat ) ,1 grated clove of garlic, salt and pepper to season and drizzle some extra virgin olive oil in a blender.  Blitz until you’ve reached a smooth consistency.

This unusual use of avo is my ultimate favourite! For all those out there who have a sweet tooth this recipe will be your favourite too..guaranteed! Avocado can be used in raw desserts as a thickening agent that also gives the dessert a creamy texture, particularly useful in raw cheesecakes. The first time I experimented with this recipe it BLEW MY MIND! Your not only adding nutrition, your using a dairy free ingredient that will still ensure your raw cheesecake comes out perfect every time.

Cheesecake base:
Place 1 cup of almonds, 3 dates, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of cacao into blender and process until a crumb texture forms. Place crust into mini cheesecake moulds and set aside in the fridge whilst preparing your filling.

Place 2 avocados, 1 cup of rice malt syrup, 1/2 cup of lime juice, 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, 1 cup of melted coconut oil, 4 tablespoon of coconut butter and the zest of 1 lime into a blender and process on high still you reach a thick smooth consistency. Spoon filling into your chilled moulds and set aside again in the fridge for a minimum of 8 hours.

There is infinite topping ideas for your raw cheesecake but a quick and easy cheat we like is to layer PURE HARVEST COCO2 HAZELNUT spread on the top of each already set cheesecake and chill to set, remove from the fridge and sit at room temperature for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Why not use an avo spread on your toast or crackers instead of processed bleached margarine? Not only will you be consuming healthy fats and vitamin E, you will be making a lifestyle change to help get rid of all the processed nasties in your diet that we have been made to believe are healthy for us. Avo spread can be manipulated to make a vegan option (just minus the cheese ).

In a bowl place half a ripe avo, some goats cheese, squeeze of lime juice, salt and pepper and mash well with a fork.  This particular recipe is meant to be chunky and rustic, just mixed enough to ensure all ingredients are combined. Spread into your delicious bread, toast or crackers for a tasty healthy base to build on.

Avocado in a smoothie? Your probably sitting there thinking.. yeah right who is this crazy lady? Why would I add avo into my smoothie? By adding avo you will be increasing your nutritional content whilst giving it a creamy thick texture without using common forms of dairy. Why not add dairy? Well dairy products cause a lot of inflammation in people, facilitating sinus problems and increased mucous production. Adding avo into your smoothie will help balance out sugar levels from the fruit content and add a healthy amount of good fats providing you with long last energy.

Avo bowls are my favourite option when I need a quick nutritious snack. Not only are they delicious they are super easy to make in no time at all. There is a variety of recipes when it comes to avo bows including a vego and vegan options. For this particular recipe we will be using eggs but feel free to mix it up anyway you like.

Take 1 large avocado and cut it in half, scoop out some of the flesh, still leaving a decant amount in each half. Crack an egg into each avo bowl, add some chopped bacon, chopped chives, some of the scooped avo flesh and top with desired grated cheese. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes in the oven until eggs are cooked through and cheese is golden.

Enjoy xx
