One thing I have noticed, through clinical and personal experience is that when we are feeling tired, sick or time poor we often grab for quick snack options. More often then not full these snacks are mostly made of simple carbs, sugar and sodium leaving us satisfied for a short time only followed by energy crashes that make us feel worse. Well this tamari almond recipe is the perfect snack idea! It's full of plant based protien to satifsy our metabolisms, making us feel fuller for longer whilst balancing the bodies sugar levels. It's a healthier savoury alternative.
1 pack of blanched almonds, skin on!
1/4 cup of tamari ( like soy sauce but gluten free and fermented )
Pepper and dried rosemary to season
You can buy blanched almonds from most bulk food/ health food stores. We use blanched almonds because they are free of phytates and other binding compounds that can inhibit absorption of many minerals found within the nuts! If you want the most nutrition out of your nuts always blanch! ( if you only hav I blanched nuts soak over night then rinse and dehydrate on 100 degrees ).
Prepare a baking try with baking paper and pre hear the oven to 150 degrees
In a mixing bowl add your dry blanched almonds, tamari, sprinkle of pepper and dried rosemary. Mix well until all combined and place on the baking try.
Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes, pull out and turn almonds, bake again for another 5 minutes. The almonds will be crunchy and have soaked up all of the seasoning.
Store in a air tight container in a cool dry place. ENJOY!
